Abstract
Although general guidelines are available in the chemical reaction engineering literature for the choice of steady state reactor type for diverse classes of reactions, they are frequently not applicable for complex reaction networks. A detailed analysis of one such network is presented for the entire region of kinetic parameter space to identify reactor types such that the maximum yield of the desired product is optimized. The transient behavior of the same reaction network in a particular reactor is also considered to identify desirable reactor startup conditions.
