Abstract
An approximate relation for the phase velocity of the propagating wave along a loaded circular loop array is derived and the effect of the reactive loading on the array characteristics is studied. It is shown that, in general, a capacitive (or inductive) loading of the directors increases (or decreases) the high frequency cutoff of the array. Similar effects are also found for finite Yagi arrays. The loading of the reflector, in finite arrays, is shown to reduce the low frequency cutoff and consequently to improve the passband characteristic of the array.
