Abstract
A novel technique is proposed to enhance the gain of a rectangular dielectric resonator antenna over a wideband range of frequencies. The proposed antenna structure has a relative bandwidth of 27.5% in the 60 GHz band (16 GHz of absolute bandwidth), and a peak realized gain of 12.6 dBi. The simulated antenna radiation efficiency goes up to 96%. A printed electromagnetic bandgap technology has been used to feed the antenna and eliminate any parasitic radiation from the feedline.
