Abstract

Power systems are becoming increasingly interconnected in the modern era. In tie-lines, there is a dynamic variation in the flow of power and load. Strong control over the tie-line power flow and system frequency is therefore necessary. Fuzzy logic controllers, as opposed to more conventional systems that use proportional, PI, and PID controllers, can be used to achieve robust control. This is because gain constants of conventional controllers don't change when the load value does. Still, the load is not constant; it varies with time. In the literature, many schemes have been proposed to address the shortcomings of conventional controllers. To address load frequency control issues in the context of this study, a fuzzy logic-based controller has been selected. To lower the error, the queried rules are applied based on variations in load. Triangle membership functions are used in the rule base formulation process of a fuzzy logic controller, this is so because, in contrast to other membership functions, the triangular membership function offers an easy way to build the rule base. With MATLAB/Simulink software, the simulation is run.
