Abstract

Laser velocimetry measurements have been made in a test apparatus which simulates the flow entering the downstream components in a coal fired MHD power plant. No artificial seed was injected ,naturally occurring particles were used as scattering centres. Profiles of mean and fluctuating velocities in both the axial and circumferential directions are reported. Design considerations and difficulties in making LV measurements in such flows are discussed in some detail. (A)
