Abstract

The introduction of complex-valued seismic traces to stacking velocity estimation can improve the resolution of velocity spectra. Nevertheless, since the computational cost of the new algorithms is at least twice that of the old, these new techniques seemed destined to be used only as special processing tools. In this paper, a low cost version of the phase gain technique is introduced which gets almost the same results as the previous formulation, but with a dramatic cost reduction. Technical details and problems are discussed which were tackled during the software implementation of these procedures in the seismic production package at OGS. -Authors
