Abstract
Optimization of unconstrained discrete-time dynamic system problems with constant unknown parameters is accomplished using a hierarchical variational approach. The original problem is modified and imbedded in a class of parametric problems while preserving the basic properties. Several computational structures are synthesized, and their practical feasibility is compared.
