Abstract

Gasification or partial oxidation is being considered in various refineries as a final conversion step for the utilization of unmarketable high-sulfur heavy residues. The process totally converts heavy residues into clean syngas and at the same time complies with environmental restraints. The present paper examines and evaluates residue gasification with combined cycle power generation for the production of hydrogen and electric power for refinery use or for export.
