Abstract
Time-resolved fluorescence spectra of 5-methoxyindole in cyclohexane and water are reported along with that of indole in water for comparison. Time-resolved fluorescence spectra of 5-methoxyindole are broader in water than in cyclohexane. A possible manifestation of the interaction between the pi electron cloud of the benzene ring of 5-methoxyindole and water is discussed.
