Abstract

The propagation of thermoelastic waves in a homogeneous, anisotropic, thermally conducting plate was analyzed in context of theory of thermoelasticity. Study was carried out by using three different methods which include semianalytical finite element method (SAFE). It was found that the both elastic and thermal modes were attenuated, the thermal modes exhibit much larger attenuation than the elastic mode. It was also observed that the effect of anisotropy of the metal was quite pronounced on waves propagating in different direction along the plate.
