Abstract
Combined TG/DTA and pyrolysis by a bench technique have been used to study alkylammonium, dialkylammonium, trialkylammonium and tetraalkylammonium tetraphenylborates, RNH3+BPh4-, R2NH2+BPh4-, R3NHBPh4- and R4NBPh4- (where R ≡ Me, Et or Bun) with the formation of polymeric compounds of the type I, II and III, and elimination of benzene, alkylbenzene and traces of boron triphenyl. {A figure is presented} The volatiles evolved in these reactions were measured quantitatively and reaction mechanisms are suggested.
