Abstract

Smart agriculture is experiencing quick revolution with reference to products and services. The adoption of advancement in technology and organizational changes are expected to significantly boost the agriculture sector’s growth while also posing certain difficulties. Uses of new emerging technology in agricultural sector are in great demand and interest due to reduction of overall cost, processing time, and efficient productivity. Assortments of researchers are used to perceive the attack of insects on the crop with the use of smart sensor and detectors. In the cosmos, insects are the most varied group of living things. There is nowhere on earth that is untouchable by insects. Insect representation approximates 80% of the world’s species. Insects are derive factors for enhancing crop production and also main hindrance for crop losses in the field and stored grains. Several approaches have been applied for insect’s pest managements. Cultural, mechanical, biological and chemical management are common practices are used by crop growers and among these chemical management is leading from many decades which cause a many diseases in human and source of carbon emissions. The successful story for management does not achieve more than 10–20%. Bio-rational management of insect pest monitoring and their control through smart technologies are emerging. Mating disrupting pheromone of different species of insects are used for management at different levels. Combining several technologies and applying them to a particular sector has always been a difficult undertaking. Sensor networks may be used with emerging technologies like grid computing, context-aware computing, and ubiquitous computing to make agriculture smarter. This chapter also includes some information on the creation of a smart agricultural prototype for irrigation control.
