Abstract

Material and production control (MPC) techniques are essential tools to be used in industry in order to achieve high quality products and low production cost. For a country like Saudi Arabia that is venturing into the industrial era, achievement of success and standing to competition require the implementation of up-to-date MPC tools. The purpose of this paper is to examine how far MPC techniques are implemented in the industries of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. MPC include automation, computer integrated manufacturing systems (CIM), just-in-time (JIT), material requirements planning (MRP), and total quality management (TQM).
