Abstract

The continuous monitoring of steel potentials using embedded half cells can provide important information about the insitu performance of reinforcement in concrete and is essential for control of cathodic protection systems. This paper outlines the manufacture and use of embeddable silver/silver chloride reference electrodes. Their long term performance after four and a half years of monitoring was assessed from tests in chloride contaminated and uncontaminated concrete. (A)
