Abstract

A pre-polot mining test for metalliferous mud in the ″Atlantis II Deep″ of the Red Sea has been undertaken successfully in Spring 1979. It could be shown that a continuous mining of mud from the deep sea bottom is technically feasible. About 15,000 tons of mudbrine mixture have been mined, 2,000 tons were processed to a concentrate of high metal contents.
