Abstract

Calcium-tin (CaSn3) microcubes are synthesized by solvothermal approach using egg shell waste. Size of each side of microcubes lies in 0.8–0.9 μm range. It is proposed that microcubes have emerged from sintering of nanoparticles of size 40–60 nm. The degradation of Congo red dye catalyzed by synthesized CaSn3 is studied at various catalyst dosages and values of apparent rate constant are calculated. Synthesized product is used as adsorbent for removal of strontium ions. Kinetics models and adsorption isotherms are used to investigate mechanism of adsorption and adsorbate-adsorbent interactions. Synthesized product is also used as additive for commercial diesel.
