Abstract
An analytical solution for the temperature profile in an infinitely extended isotropic body with a steady and non-steady periodic-type point-heat sources is obtained. The appropriate dimensionless parameters are identified and the reduced temperature as a function of these parameters is presented in terms of the generalized representation of an incomplete Gamma function Iα(ib, u). This function is also shown to be represented by well known exponential and trigonometric functions.
