Abstract

This presentation reviews the experience of Saudi Arabia in technology transfer in the upstream and downstream sectors of its petroleum industry and describes the extent of its success in adapting advanced technologies. Oil production in Saudi Arabia, besides being the main source of wealth, it is also the source of raw materials and energy requirement of various up-to-date petrochemical industries. In developing its petroleum and petrochemical industries, Saudi Arabia has applied several models of technology transfer.
