Abstract

This paper performs a technical and economic analysis on a hybrid renewable energy system(HRES) to meet the charging load of electric vehicles (EV) in Noida, India. The solar photovoltaic (PV), wind turbine and battery storage system configurations were modeled using HOMER Grid software with the grid as the base and compared with various proposed systems to analyze their performance in terms of energy reliability, economic viability and environmental sustainability. The main objective was to determine an optimal system combination that will minimize both the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) and the Total Net Present Cost (TNPC) while ensuring a reliable power supply to the EV charging infrastructure. The study has concluded that utilizing renewable sources in conjunction with storage can lead to a significant reduction in energy costs and carbon emissions compared to conventional grid-only systems. Although this phase of the project is a simulation-based assessment using HOMER Grid software. The annual utility bill is estimated to decrease by about 3.27 million, thus substantiating both short-term and long-term economic advantages. This study lays a strong platform for sustainable EV Charging infrastructure planning.
