Abstract

This study investigates the influence of team green human resource management (TGHRM) on team pro-environmental behavior (T-PEB) in the hospitality sector, where teamwork plays a pivotal role in achieving sustainability goals. Given the growing emphasis on environmental practices within service industries, understanding how team-level initiatives can drive collective pro-environmental behaviors is crucial. The study addresses a significant gap in the literature, which has predominantly focused on individual-level outcomes of green HRM, neglecting the impact of team-based dynamics. Using data from 83 hotel teams and employing SmartPLS for analysis, the findings reveal that TGHRM significantly enhances T-PEB, with team green engagement (TGE) as a key mediator. Moreover, team environmental values (TEV) significantly moderate the TGHRM-T-PEB and TGE-T-PEB relationships, amplifying their effects. This study pioneered the exploration of green HRM at the team level, highlighting the essential role of collective team engagement and shared environmental values in promoting sustainable behaviors in the hospitality industry. The study provides valuable insights for managers aiming to foster environmentally responsible teams.
