Abstract

System theory properties of relaxation systems are revised and new properties are developed. Approximation of relaxation systems using Balanced truncation, Singular perturbation balanced truncation, Hankel norm model reduction, and H approximation schemes is studied. Some further properties related to the H norm are explored. Application of the results to power spectrum estimation is discussed.
