Abstract

The functionalization of MS2 (M = Mo, W) of chalogenide nanotubes with ZnO and Au nanoparticles is reported. Furthermore, we developed a soft chemistry route for the synthesis of the tungsten oxide nanorods. The WO3-x nanorods were found to self assemble in organic solvents like dichloromethane, cyclohexane and mixture of cyclohexane and ethanol. With dichloromethane as the solvent, the nanorods formed mesostructures, which upon increase in the concentration formed compact mesostructures. With ethanol and cyclohexane mixtures, 2D close packed stacks were obtained in which increasing the ratio of cyclohexane resulted in the formation of schlieren textures.
