Abstract

Two cadmium(II) iodide complexes, [Cd(Detu) 2 I 2] (1) and [Cd(Diaz) 2I 2] (2) (Detu = N,N'-diethylthiourea; Diaz = 1,3-diazinane-2-thione) have been prepared and their structures been determined by X-ray crystallography. The crystal structures show that both complexes are mononuclear with the cadmiumatomcoordinated to two iodide ions and two thione ligands adopting a distorted tetrahedral geometry. Whereas, 2 exists as discretemonomeric species, the structure of 1 consists of three crystallographically independent molecules. The complexeswere also characterized by IR andNMR ( 1H and 13C) spectroscopy.
