N2 - In this communication, some results on the analysis of the reachability and observability of linear discrete-time fractional order systems are given. Mathematical conditions for checking the controllability and the observability of such systems are developed. Furthermore, the concepts of the controllability realization index, the observability realization index and the structure realization index are introduced.
