Abstract

This paper discusses the effect of stochastic resonance (SR) in a leaky integrate-and-fire (LIF) neuron and investigates its realisation on low resolution digitally implemented systems. We report in this new study that stochastic resonance which is mainly associated with floating point implementations is possible on lower resolution integer based representations which result in real-time performance on digital hardware.
