Abstract
We investigate a system of coupled plate equations incorporating a damping structure that combines an energy-type damping mechanism with a nonlinear monotonic damping term. This hybrid damping configuration models more realistic physical behavior and introduces additional mathematical challenges in addition to the nonlinear coupling between the equations. We study the asymptotic behavior of solutions of the system. Applying Nakao’s lemma, we derive decay estimates, demonstrating that the energy of the system decays at a polynomial rate. The obtained decay results extend and unify several known results in the literature for single-equation models.
