Abstract
Energy has been considered to be an essential requirement for the development of human civilization from ancient times. Presently, most of the energy resources are fossil-fuel-based. However, the rapid rate of fossil fuel utilization has become a threat to developing nations because of their limited availability and negative environmental impacts. The only available solution for these problems is in the form of renewable energy resources. These resources are not used to a great extent due to the low efficiency and heavy capital investments required initially. This paper presents a composite study based on the observation of regional grids, a brief comparison has been given between the estimated and the installed capacity renewable resources. This study focuses on the SPV/wind hybrid system in remote rural areas of northern India. A factual discussion is given for the feasibility of SPV/wind hybrid system in rural India. It is expected that the rural electrification and future demand for electrical energy can be satisfied by SPV/wind hybrid system in standalone and grid-connected mode.
