Abstract

The 2017 Special Issue of Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems is a selected collection of papers submitted to the Second International Symposium on Intelligent Systems Technologies and Applications (ISTA'16), September 21-24, 2016, Jaipur, India. Four papers in this special issue deal with prominent feature extraction in question-answering systems, automated processing and recognition of human speech commands, document analysis and categorization, and microblogging analysis and hierarchical visualization. Five papers in this special issue address a number of applications of soft computing and fuzzy control in industrial and power systems. One problem faced by power systems is related to voltage instability and chaos. A Perturb-Boost Fuzzy-Logic Controller is described for instability control in nonlinear dynamical systems. Evolutionary techniques are addressed in two of the papers in this special issue. Five papers in this special issue address problems in signal, image and video processing systems.
