Abstract
In the reported experiments, the diffusivity-viscosity-dependency in diluted solutions of polymers (PVA, PEG) of various molecular weights (M//p equals 1500 minus 100000 g/mol) was determined for CO//2 from absorption measurements in a wetted-wall column. The CO//2-diffusion coefficients decrease with increasing viscosity, however, the effect depends largely on the molecular weight of the polymer added to increase the viscosity. An empirical collelation is presented, which describes all CO//2 diffusivity data measured as a function of the solution viscosity and the molecular weight of polymer with good agreement.
