Abstract
Though ultraviolet (UV) laser diodes have been previously demonstrated and are crucially needed; they are all based on Fabry-Perot cavities and emit multiple longitudinal modes. Here, we present the first single-frequency UV laser diode of any kind based on a phase-shifted distributed feedback design.
