Abstract
A simple and accurate solution to the generalized planar transmission line is presented. The solution utilizes a stationary expression for the propagation constant derived using the reciprocity theorem. The expression allows for a simpler solution by utilizing the weak nature of the axial electric field component. Two examples are presented, the dual strip dual plane microstrip and the broadside-coupled planar strip line, geometry. Comparison of the present results with published data shows complete agreement.
