Abstract

The group transformation method permits the transformation of partial differential equations describing the transient and steady boundary-layer flow in a mixed-convection into the ordinary differential equations. The main emphasis in this paper is placed on constructing similarity variables of the mixed-convection problem by solving invariant conditions of the governing differential equations under the continuous transformation of one parameter group. Several limiting cases of the transient mixed-convection problem are explored. It is found that the present analysis covers some well known similarity solutions as well as new solutions.
