Abstract

This paper proposes an analysis of the second-order statistics concerning the envelope and phase of η-μ generalized fading channels. So, a simple and closed-form expression for the phase crossing rate of the signal operating in such channels will be obtained. Furthermore, exact expressions for the level crossing rate and average fade duration of η-μ channels will also be attained. The analytical results are thoroughly validated by reducing the general case to some particular cases (Nakagami-m, Hoyt, and Rayleigh), for which the solutions are known, and by means of Monte Carlo simulation, for the more general case.
