Abstract

The Editor retracts “Enhanced Photocatalytic Degradation with Sustainable CaO Nanorods Doped with Ce and Cellulose Nanocrystals: In Silico Molecular Docking Studies” (DOI: 10.1021/acsomega.2c02732) due to a pattern of inappropriate image reuse, irregularities in the data and analysis presented, and concerns relating to the accountability for the research. This pattern of issues across several related articles calls into question the reliability of all of the following publications, DOIs: 10.1021/acsomega.2c02790, 10.1021/acsomega.2c04650, 10.1021/acsomega.2c00583, 10.1021/acsomega.1c03723, 10.1021/acsomega.2c00240, 10.1021/acsomega.2c05625, and 10.1021/acsomega.2c02732. In this article, multiple images were reused in other publications presenting the same materials but the synthesis protocol described in the methods is different. Figures 6c and 6d were reused in Figures 4b’ and 4e’ 10.1016/j.procbio.2022.07.035 where they are identified as different materials. Inconsistencies have also been noted in the data presented in Figures 2, 4, and 6. When considered alongside the broader pattern, these issues undermine the credibility of the findings and warrant retraction. On November 24, 2025, an Expression of Concern (DOI: 10.1021/acsomega.5c11076) was posted on this article noting concerns surrounding the accountability for the work, which when viewed alongside the broader pattern of issues across related publications raised doubts about the findings. The Expression of Concern is considered resolved upon publication of this Retraction.
