Abstract

Representative laboratory measurements of Archie parameters are essential for accurate evaluation of reservoir fluid in place. In this paper, two systematic laboratory approaches to estimate the saturation exponents of rocks undergoing different displacement processes during CO2 EOR process are presented. Results showed that saturation exponent derived for each displacement process is different from the others and can result in either over estimation or under estimation of water saturation from resistivity logs. Lesson learnt from this study is that proper IR-Sw relationship which represents actual reservoir process at any given time should be used to evaluate water saturation. A parametric study was done to quantify these errors.
