Quantum Random Number Generation

Abstract

The significance of random numbers spans across a wide range of applications, from cryptography to art and music. Quantum technology has become a focal point in the search for authentic randomness due to its inherent probabilistic behaviour. Quantum technologies exploit intrinsic quantum randomness to produce Quantum Random Number Generators (QRNGs). The state of quantum random number generation technology is continually evolving. Different approaches are introduced without claiming to provide a complete overview about current efforts to provide efficient and effective QRNG. A range of companies are presently offering QRNG products, and future advancements are expected to extend these offerings, meeting the rising demand for quality randomness in fields that rely heavily on entropy and security.
