Abstract
Quality-assurance procedures can lessen the uncertainties inherent in core and log data. Despite this importance, confusion exists as to the best practice for calculating uncertainty. The decision requires estimating all parameters contributing to the uncertainty and then adding them together in a way that displays the confidence level. Three important terms that need thorough understanding include quality control, quality assurance and total quality management.
