Abstract
Inconel alloys are widely used in gas power industry as materials for hot gas path components. In order to achieve a long life operation of hot gas parts, substantial cooling of the parts is essential in gas turbine engines. One of the mechanisms to make the passages for coolants in hot path components is the drilling through holes in the parts by a laser beam. In order to improve the practical laser hole drilling, an understanding of the physical process involved in drilling is essential. Considerable research studies were carried out to investigate the laser hole drilling.
