Abstract

Nanoparticles, which are material particles with diameters ranging from 1 to 100 nm, have the potential to play a key role in the development of new technologies. They have recently gotten a lot of press in the material science community. This chapter provides a discussion of the properties of adsorbents and nanoadsorbents and introduces the state-of-the-art progress in the properties of polymer nanocomposites. It discusses the evolution of several functionalization techniques for the production of a diverse variety of nanomaterials with enhanced properties. The chapter also discusses the possible mechanisms of interaction between adsorbate and adsorbents in the adsorption system.
