Abstract

Extracellular matrix (ECM) based biomaterials have an established place as medical devices for wound healing and tissue regeneration. In this study acellular matrix was prepared from bovine reticulum using detergents and enzynmes. Treatment with 0.5% SDS for 48h resulted in completely acellualr matrix as evaluated by histology, SEM and DNA quantification. Treatment with enzyme does not show any significant reduction in cellularity.
