Abstract
In this paper a simple approach is proposed for predicting the aliasing intermodulation distortion (AID). Closed-form mathematical expressions are obtained for the AID resulting from processing a simple baseband signal formed of a fundamental component and Its second-harmonic in the chain of nonlinearities formed of the sampling process, the analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) and the amplifier/loudspeaker. These expressions clearly show that while the AIDs originating from odd-order nonlinearitles may cancel each other, those originating from even-order nonliearities cannot.
