Abstract
In this paper, some of the major factors that influence human performance for a visual inspection task are summarized. Then research studies dealing with information processing rates, effects of information on manual work and effects of visual-task discriminability on performance time in a combined manual and decision task are briefly described. In addition to indicating future research work and the work in progress, some applications of the research findings made so far are also suggested in this article.
