Abstract

This paper discusses the power quality of the network. It will focus on three parameters: power factor correction, harmonics filtering, and unstable voltage and frequency. Mathematical calculations will be presented in this paper to show the advantages of improving these parameters and the consequences of improper design for it. Moreover, two case studies will be discussed to prove the mathematical calculation and simulate the network before and after improving the power quality parameters. One case study will focus on harmonic filtering in the network. However, other case study will be focused on improving the power factor in the power network. Moreover, the effect of renewable energy such as solar power on the network voltage and frequency and how it can be solved by using battery energy storage system along with renewable energy generation are discussed.
