Abstract

The number of levels is crucial in the design of a switched-capacitor-based inverter topologies. The number of levels plays an important role in the power quality of the output parameters, which also signifies the size of the filter. In this paper, four different multilevel inverter topologies have been discussed for a different number of levels. First, a four-level topology is discussed, followed by the five-level, six-level, and seven-level topologies. A power quality assessment of output voltage and current has been carried out for different filter sizes as well as carrier frequencies for all four topologies. A comparative study of all four topologies has been carried out regarding component count and harmonics. Simulation results have been provided for all four topologies at the same operating conditions for a better decree of the topologies.
