Abstract
Modern power electronics are vital in advancing electric vehicles (EVs), which enable efficient energy conversion, battery management, and motor control. This chapter explores key components, that includes power converters, inverters, DC-DC converters, and battery management systems. It also emphasizes AC-DC and DC-AC conversion for optimizing energy transfer and discusses advanced control strategies such as pulse-width modulation and field-oriented control. Thermal management, wide-bandgap semiconductors, wireless power transfer, and renewable energy integration are explored in this chapter study. Case studies of Tesla, Nissan Leaf, and BMW i3 exemplify real-world applications. These case studies addressed the efficiency, cost, and reliability trade-offs to drive EV sustainability and performance.
