Abstract
The analysis of spin relaxation and decoherence on GaAs quantum dot due to spin-orbit (SO) interaction, was investigated. An effective hamiltonian which includes the electron spin to phonons or any other function of the dot potential was derived. It was found that for the Dresselhaus and Rashba SO couplings, the effective B field can have only fluctuations transverse of the applied B field. The results show that the spin decay was drastically suppressed for certain B-field directions and ratios of SO coupling constants.
