Abstract
A method has been developed to estimate the permeability profile in a geothermal well from a Dual Induction-Laterlog, a porosity log, and drilling data. The procedure is based on modeling the invasion of the drilling mud filtrate into the formation and using a history matching technique to arrive at the permeability profile. Input data to the computer model includes basic drilling mud properties, drilling hydraulics, and dimensions of the tubular goods. A permeability profile is assumed for the well and the computer program is run. The objective is to compare the well and the computer program is run. The objective is to compare the invasion radius computed from the program to that derived from the logging data. The process is then repeated until a satisfactory match is obtained.
