Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of the pulse characteristics (pulse shape, amplitude, repetition rate, etc. ) of an alpha-particle corona streamer counter and the inception voltage of the corona-mode regime. The critical gap length for each wire diameter is estimated, and the counting-rate characteristics are obtained for wire diameters 0. 05 mm-0. 1 mm. All the theoretical findings are confirmed by experiment.
