Abstract

This paper presents the results of parametric analysis of the Ghazlan Power Plant (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). The analysis aimed at improving the Ghazlan Power Plant performance is based on the first and second law of thermodynamics. The physical quantities whose effect were examined are: throttle steam pressure and temperature, reheat steam pressure and temperature and number of feedwater heaters. The results show that the parameter that has the most significant effect on the efficiency is the number of feedwater heaters. The addition of three more feedwater heaters increases the turbine cycle efficiency by 30%.
