Abstract
The paramagnetic properties of chromium complexes, where ortho-quinone ligand are covalently linked to polymeric chains, were investigated. The study was carried out by using infrared and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopic experiments. It was observed that the covalent linking of quinone ligands is accompanied by the change in valence states of chromium. It was also found that the ligand field of the triplet Cr 4+ ions is close to the one in Cr-doped Y 2SiO 5, which is a laser material in the visible and infrared regions.
